Once your candle has arrived, you can follow a few simple steps to ensure that it burns beautifully and evenly for as long as possible.

Tips & Tricks for scented candles:

The first lighting:

Did you know that candles have a memory?

They remember exactly how long they burned the last time. The first lighting is therefore very important - both for you and for your candle!

When lighting your candle for the first time, let it burn for about 2-3 hours until the top layer of wax has completely melted. This will ensure a clean, even and long-lasting burn and prevent the unwanted "tunneling" behavior. If you extinguish the flame too early, the candle will only burn to that point the next time you light it.

Shortening the wick:

By trimming the wick of your candle to a length of 5-7mm before lighting it, you will achieve a clean and even burn. You can also extend the life of your candle by up to 25%.

An untrimmed wick can lead to faster combustion, larger flames and excessive smoke.

So remember to trim the wick every time before lighting. When you receive your Akimi candle, the wick will already be correctly trimmed and ready to be lit for the first time.

Tips & Tricks for Decorative Candles:

If you just want to use your candle as a decoration, you don't need to do anything special. However, if you want to light it, please note the following things:

Never leave your candle burning unattended.
Before lighting, place it on a fireproof surface that is large enough to catch the melting wax. Depending on the shape of your candle, it may melt at different rates, and larger amounts of wax may drip off.
Light the candle out of the reach of children and pets.
